All Things Genealogy Event In St. Lucy On January 25
This Saturday, January 25, promises to be a day of history, culture, and connections as the Department of Archives and the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. host a heritage event in St. Lucy, as part of We Gatherin’ 2025 celebrations.
The activities kick off at the Checker Hall Playing Field and Pavilion with cultural performances from 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by the Genealogy Workshops hosted by the Archives Department from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
From 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., The University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Department of History, Philosophy and Psychology and the Parish Organising Committee will host Standpipe Stories.
The guest speaker will be Deputy Dean (Planning, Lecturer in History and Coordinator of Heritage Studies at The UWI), Dr. Tara Inniss.
Patrons attending will learn more about the rich history and culture of St. Lucy through captivating well-researched presentations; listen to authentic stories shared by residents of the parish; and enjoy the talent of residents.
It is expected that the event would further strengthen the community spirit of the parish, while preserving the history of Barbados. We Gatherin’ activities in St. Lucy will culminate on Friday, January 31.
