Officials from Barbados’ tourism industry joined representatives from JetBlue Airways on Saturday, November 8, to celebrate the airline’s 10th anniversary of nonstop service from Boston’s Logan International Airport to the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados.
Following the arrival of Flight #B625 – “Mint to Soar” – captained by Steven Krieger and First Officer Thomas O’Connell with 167 passengers onboard, a brief reception was held to commemorate the milestone.
During the event, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.’s (BTMI) Director for the United States, Peter Mayers, commended JetBlue for its contribution to the growth of Barbados’ tourism market in the U.S.
“This Boston-Barbados route has not simply connected two destinations, but essentially two cultures and two communities, creating countless stories of travel adventures, business opportunities and lasting friendships. From the very first flight a decade ago, this service has played a pivotal role in promoting travel to Barbados from Boston and indeed the wider New England region.
“It has made our beautiful island so much more accessible for residents, with many having now warmly embraced Barbados as a vacation paradise and a second home,” Mr. Mayers said.
He noted that, according to the Barbados Statistical Service, the island welcomed 191,023 visitors from the United States between January and September 2025, making the U.S. Barbados’ largest source market. He added that “JetBlue’s commitment to destination Barbados has been critical to this success”.
Mr. Mayers expressed gratitude for JetBlue’s ongoing partnership and reaffirmed the island’s commitment to strengthening ties with the airline.
“In JetBlue, we have been blessed with a nimble and resourceful partner … and we look forward to even more successes in the very near future. As we look to the future, we look forward to the continued collaboration and the creation of memorable experiences that will encourage repeat visits and foster lasting relationships. With partners like JetBlue committed to Barbados, we are steadfast in our commitment to being a destination truly worthy of their confidence and continued investment,” he stated.
JetBlue Airways’ General Manager for Barbados and Grenada, Kelly Bourne, described the milestone as “incredible” and extended appreciation to all stakeholders for their continued collaboration and support.
“JetBlue has proudly become a leading airline here in Barbados … and I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our partners, including local businesses and the Government of Barbados….
“My friends, this anniversary is more than just a celebration of years. It’s a reflection of our commitment to tourism, to building meaningful community connections and to continuing to be the airline that brings family and friends together…. We look forward to many, many more years of connection between Barbados and the JetBlue Network,” Ms. Bourne said.
She also announced that JetBlue’s current weekly service from Boston will increase during the upcoming winter 2025/2026 season. “So currently, we operate a weekly Saturday flight from Boston, which will increase to up to three flights per week during the winter holiday season,” she shared.
