The Ministry continues to place disaster risk management issues at the forefront of planning to minimise the threats posed by natural hazards and manmade events. In addition, our stakeholders are consistently reminded of Barbados’ vulnerability to various hazards and encouraged to make the necessary preparations and implement the required contingency plans.
The Role of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport
The role of the Ministry from the perspective of disaster management is to co-ordinate the preparedness, management and recovery of Barbados’ tourism sector in the event of a disaster. To this end, the Ministry has established a Tourism Emergency Management Committee (TEMC) and Tourism Emergency Operations Centre (TEOC).
